Sankaty Head Caddie Program succeeds because many caddies make a several year commitment to the Program. Applicants currently need to be in the 8th, 9th, or 10th grade. This gives them an opportunity to grow as young men, to become better caddies, and perhaps, after a few years, to join the ranks of the Program Senior Staff.
Additionally, once a caddie has completed two years at SHCP, he is eligible to apply for a scholarship from the Sankaty Head Foundation. These valuable scholarships are awarded to distinguished caddies whose academic performance at their high school or college is exemplary.
It is also important that a caddie stay in the Program each year until late August. Early departures are discouraged and will likely result in the caddie not being invited back in succeeding years.
